Granbury ISD Board of Trustees name Dr. Ann Dixon interim superintendent

The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees voted at the regularly scheduled board meeting on August 19, 2024, to hire Dr. Ann Dixon as the district’s interim superintendent.

She will join GISD on August 27 and will serve until the district names a permanent superintendent, likely in December 2024. Dr. Dixon’s appointment comes after Dr. Jeremy Glenn was named superintendent of Carroll ISD. Glenn served as GISD superintendent from 2018-24.

“I am pleased to announce Dr. Ann Dixon as our interim superintendent,” said Board President Barabara Townsend. “Dr. Dixon has a wealth of knowledge and experience which will smooth our transition as we search for the next superintendent of Granbury ISD.”

Dr. Dixon’s 50-year career in public education includes teaching and school leadership positions in the San Antonio region. In addition to serving as the Somerset ISD superintendent in the 1990s, she most recently worked as interim superintendent in 20 other school districts in Texas. She has notably been the interim superintendent in Midland, Galveston, Cedar Hill, Decatur, Red Oak and San Marcos ISD.

“I am honored and excited to be selected as the interim superintendent of Granbury ISD,” said Dr. Dixon. “GISD is an admired district in the state and will attract premier candidates for their future superintendent. Since school has started, I will need to hit the ground running and look forward to making many new friends.”

Additionally, Dr. Dixon also has experience at the state level. She has worked with the Texas Comptroller’s Office and the Texas Legislative Budget Board, as well as serving as a mentor for many first-time superintendents. For her distinguished service to her profession and community, the 76th Texas Legislature recognized her with a resolution of commendation.

Dr. Dixon holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Administration from Walden University, a Master of Arts in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Pathology from Oklahoma State University.
