Relocation Information
INTRODUCTION
STARS is a great option for military-connected families! Our campus is a National Showcase School for Capturing Kids' Hearts which, combined with small class sizes, creates a welcoming environment to help students adjust to a new community quickly. The accelerated curriculum is also great for students whose credits may not have transferred well from one district or state to another. At STARS, students work with certified content specific teachers to complete credits using an online learning platform, Edgenuity. Students generally have 9 weeks to work at their own pace to complete each course in person. While most students choose to attend all day, flexible schedules are available for students who are interested. STARS Accelerated High School serves students in grades 9-12 and also those who are beyond high school age ready to earn their diploma. Before an interview is scheduled, certain requirements must be met.

EXTRACURRICULAR
Because the main focus of STARS is graduation and due to our small size, extracurricular activities and clubs are limited. STARS students do have the opportunity to attend the Powered for Life program at the Forward Training Center. This program helps students prepare for future careers by honing soft skills and making community connections. STARS students also have the opportunity to go on several field trips throughout the year to places like the Fort Worth Zoo, the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, the Kimball Art Museum, and various college campuses.
STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
STARS students are subject to the same rules and policies as other GISD students. There is also a list of expectations for STARS students specifically, and that can be found here.
TUTORING
Tutorials are offered before and after school by request as well as embedded into the school day. The last period of the day is designed for students to get extra help in whatever subject they might be struggling in.
